1870′S VICTORIAN CHANDELIER ~COMPLETE ~

jb20080724b.jpg 1870'S VICTORIAN CHANDELIER ~COMPLETE ~

Truly ~STUNNING~ 1870'S VICTORIAN CHANDELIER ~ COMPLETE ~

It burns kerosene but can easily be converted.

I am going to rely on my pictures for the majority of my description,

and do my best to list what I feel are the important features,

but please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

It measures 35" long and 14" in diameter at it's widest point (the shade).

The body is made up of very intricate filagree brass, and the shade is hand painted milk glass.

There are 44 crystals of which 11 are chipped at the tips. Minor, but they can easily be replaced.

The glass chimney has "MACBETH NO. 356 PEARL GLASS" etched into the top front of it.

Picture #10 shows a chip at the bottom of it, which is about the 1/4 of a #2 pencil eraser.

Pictures #11 and #12 show the kerosene bowl which is also very intricate in design and has * PATD SEP. 20 1870 *

embossed into the inside of the bottom. » Continue reading "1870′S VICTORIAN CHANDELIER ~COMPLETE ~"

VICTORIAN MOTHER OF PEARL &SILVER CASED CUTLERY SERVICE

vm20080711.jpg VICTORIAN MOTHER OF PEARL &SILVER CASED CUTLERY SERVICE

This is a gorgeous Mother of Pearl and Silver Plate cased service for six dating to around 1890. The set is quite beautiful and is in a lovely wood case lined with velvet and silky material. This set is marked on the knives GB & Co. (see photos), and the knives are engraved on both sides of the blade. The knives measure approx. 8" long, the forks 6-5/8" long, and the collars are unmarked so we must presume they are silver plate. The set is in very, very good condition with a small amount of wear on MOP handles, and the wood case measures approx. 11-1/4" x 9-1/4" x 2-1/4" high and shows some wear/scratching, and a shrinkage crack across the top as seen in the photos. If you love Mother of Pearl cutlery as much as I do, be sure to check my other auctions for more, and anyone will certainly save with combined shipping if they purchase more than one lot. I am sure this would sell for a handsome price at any antique show or shop, but with my low opening bid and NO RESERVE someone could score a huge bargain !! Victorian Wall Pocket ~ Carved Walnut ~ Needlepoint

vm20080705b.jpg Victorian Wall Pocket ~ Carved Walnut ~ Needlepoint

Offered for auction is an unusual Victorian-era decorative wall mount. An all hand-carved walnut plaque with a large needlepoint pocket. 23-1/2" long and 14-1/2" at it's widest point. From the back, you can see that the entire plaque is cut and worked from a single piece of Walnut; no joints or applied pieces! Stamped with a number "38." Nicely carved Stag's head that unfortunately is missing it's rack or horns. A small chip out of one ear and two small splits from age in the open work; that's it, otherwise excellent.

The center area of the pocket, the stag's head and red background is needlepoint. The decorative floral area around the red background is all done with tiny glass beads that are hand-sewn to the pocket; an amazing amount of fine work. Some minor bead loss but evident only on close inspection. All in all, quite a lot of skilled work in putting this all together.

Great item for the serious collector, sure to please! Pictures show good detail, modest reserve. » Continue reading "Victorian Wall Pocket ~ Carved Walnut ~ Needlepoint"

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 78″ FIRE SCREEN, PEACOCK EMBROIDERY

vm20080705a.jpg ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 78" FIRE SCREEN, PEACOCK EMBROIDERY

Fabulous and rare antique Victorian era 78" pole style fire screen or firescreen, richly grained rosewood with carved feet, scrolled framework and a gorgeous exotic bird themed embroidery panel: a peacock and flowers! YES, this one stands a total of 78", 6.5', 198cm!! Large but equally impressive are the style and condition. A beautiful tri-footed base with carved feet, the framework for the embroidery (the actual screen portion) with a wonderful scrolled border and all in either solid or veneered rosewood! Heck, even the original turned finial is in place! A decorators' piece for sure, I know you've already thought of the perfect place for it so.....don't miss out!
Very good condition. Original embroidery panel with no rips or tears though there is some age darkening in places and possibly a missing stitch or two. The screen frame appears to be veneered rosewood but I can't be certain, it also appears solid when you look at it from the edges or where there is a hairline age/drying crack. The lower finial (on embroidery frame) has been reattached and the top finial has some veneer restoration. The actual pole has some pitting and scratching (the screen is held in place by a bolt). The fabric back, that would have covered the wood embroidery stretching frame, is missing. Now, the not so good news :) . The screen portion, base and finial all come apart but that center pole is basically one 72" piece. We'll need to mail this one in two packages, the pole in one and screen & base in another so count on around $100 as the shipping expense. See pictures for measurements. » Continue reading "ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 78″ FIRE SCREEN, PEACOCK EMBROIDERY"

Overall the lamp is in excellent condition. There is a crack on one of the brass pieces (pictured). The crack does not show unless you get down and look underneath. Also, three of the decorated brass pieces that surround the glass shade are missing, or were removed at some point, but unless your studying the lamp with scrutiny they go unnoticed.

The lamp stands 68" to the top of the glass chimney shade. You may pick the lamp up in Springfield Tn. HUGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CORNER NICHE, GOTHIC WALL SHELF

vm20080518_21.jpg HUGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CORNER NICHE, GOTHIC WALL SHELF

Absolutely fabulous & rare antique Victorian era corner niche or vitrine style shelf, ornate Gothic styling with extensive scroll cut and turned fretwork, massive 35" size and remarkable condition! Isn't this one simply gorgeous! A great old Victorian era piece, wonderfully ornate in an always popular Gothic style. A wall mounted corner piece, it is an impressive 35" tall and just under 20" at its wides! Ornate fretwork, three covered niches with turned columns and arched overhangs, great to display a variety of treasures including, but definitely not limited to, religious sculptures of artifacts! A label on the back for the Winchester, England White & Co. Furniture Depositories. Amazing condition and immense visual appeal, don't miss it!
Very good condition! A few age or drying splits in some of the scroll cut work but, as you can see, the entire piece is in remarkable condition! No missing fretwork in the lower finial, no breaks or repairs that I can see in elsewhere. The piece appears to be in a lighter wood so it is relatively delicate. We'll need to ship this one via DHL ground due to the size so count on around $50 for continental US shipping. See pictures for measurements. » Continue reading "HUGE ANTIQUE VICTORIAN CORNER NICHE, GOTHIC WALL SHELF"
